Question 7 - using Prezi and Blogger - Evaluation

This is my final part of the evaluation which explores what I have learnt with the mistakes of the preliminary task (Video is present) and comparing that to our recently finished film opening (Also present). This Prezi also gives my opinions on the project that we had just completed and compares this to the preliminary task footage

For the planning stage of our preliminary piece took only a few days as we only wanted an easy idea. This was our storyboard for our preliminary piece which was a quick rush while for our main task me and my partner spent a longer period of time to come up with an accurate and an idea for the task. (Left= preliminary plan, right- plan for the main task)

Question 6 - using Bubbl - Evaluation

This question explores technology and software that was used in the production of our film opening and how it was used in production.

To shoot our film used a DSLR camera to film our piece. The camera which we had made our film seem more professional than an ordinary camera and allowed us to record and transfer footage more easily. The footage shoot using this camera was of high quality.
A similar model DSLR camcorder that we used during filming our footage.

Adobe Premier pro software used to edit our film. This was previously used to edit our preliminary. I had learnt much more in terms of adding transitions and changing the filter of a footage to make parts of the film black and white to add to the effect of mystery.

This is adobe after effects which was new for our task. This was a new experience in terms of adding special effects to our opening. we did encounter a few technical issues which caused several problems such as the titling at the start of the film which we could not fix in time for the deadline but managed to add another title which appears over the default title. I feel that this software made a huge improvement to the quality of our opening and is a useful piece of software to use in future tasks, but I need to learn a little more on how to use Adobe After Effects more professionally. This I shall aim to do before the next project. This gave us many effects, for example we used a flashing effect to add a supernatural effect and to make the titling sequence more exciting. Also we had the ability to change colour of the shot for example there was a part of the sequence where the colour of the background was blue to make the character seem disorientated and confused. All of this was done using Adobe After Effects.

Mixcraft 5 was the software that we used to create the music for our film opening. The software offers different sound effects and samples which we had used for example there were many vocal samples within the software that we used to create an airy atmosphere. The software was easy to learn as we had used this in our preliminary piece.

Question 5, Gliffy - Evaluation

This was completed using Gliffy - jotting down the advice the audience whom were some friends of mine gave to me. Some were positive and some were negative. I could complete this project again, I would consider these thoughts and incorporate these in the project .

Question 4 - using word it out - Evaluation

Original text -
Question 4— Who would be the audience for your media product?
The aimed age group for our thriller was for younger people between the ages of 16 to the mid 20s. At this age rate we feel our film is aimed at are ideal because between theses ages, people are very active and keen to try new things and like interesting films filled with mystery and features which would interest younger people to watch the film.
We believe that the age range would be between the end of being a teenager to young adulthood as these are the age ranges whom watch many films in todays society and they thrive in mystery and adventure. That’s what keeps them going strong which I believe is a good quality and is present with the main character
We are relating this to our intended target audience because in today's society the films made today are mixed in the category range and many younger people are becoming interested in thrillers, mainly because of either the cast or the interest of the trailer so we  tried in our opening to show that the film is interesting through what is happening in the scene and to include the names of  some famous people whom many younger people like today. Also we feel that this is the correct type of audience for our film as many people between the age of 15 to mid thirty's are frequent visitors to the cinema so they can have the cinematic experience and enjoy the film on the big screen.
The research done before the production of our film  did hypothesise that the intended audience was between the age group of 15 years old to about the mid 30’s but we had changed our minds during the filming processes. This was appropriate as the basis for our film did change mid production with new ideas and techniques which has improved the film and do feel that our audience would like our film with the changes.

Question 3 - using Piktochart - Evaluation

I Believe if we were to perform the cultural test for our film, cursed life would pass the test as we plan to have a whole British cast within our film, have a British or European production and distribution company.

Question 2 - Evaluation

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our film follows one Teenage boy called James Green who is 17. We had chosen to use a 17 year old boy to represent the younger people because many young people would relate to teenage life and as he does through a "Journey of Reconciliation" which many would find interesting and might motivate many young people to watch the film and also focuses on the relationship between the main character and his lover who is also a teenager of the same age group. Our main character in the opening titles and throughout the film is male but we have tried to include an equal amount of both male and female characters within the movie, many are come from different classes of society (mainly the working and middle classes) who do interact like in normal society together.

The locations used within our film vary. In the opening titles we shot in several locations. these locations are located within the Derbyshire area in the UK. Tupton and Holmgate were the two locations. they are local areas for us to access. Tupton which is a village as is holmgate which we found to be closely linked to the teenage community because they are a peaceful area where many thrive and live together and where there are many spots where teenagers hang out. This is our Mise En Scene for our film to show a peaceful place where many teenagers go and is considered a stereotype for a thriller which involves murder. The park in holmgate is one place where many teenagers go to socialise and to get away from today's society. The locations that we chose were chosen to show the representation of this character. The character is alone at each location to show that in this vast area which is normally populated is alone. This builds up the character himself to the audience.
Our film uses an enigma code throughout with the mysterious killer. This can be a character which the audience may question about.

The clothing for the character is casual clothe wear  for many in today's standards.

We are using no stereotypes as our film focuses on deeper matters which builds up the film as a whole. Many people can relate to teen stereotypes because of clothing for example many teens wear hoodies because they feel comfortable, but they are discriminated and mocked by the older generation because of this. In actuality younger people wear more casual clothing, such as our character.

We have used a range of shots throughout the opening to represent this character for example we have used close up shots of the character to show the emotion when in the situation of choosing his life or the other life. This shows the emotional struggle of the character. We also used editing to represent this character as the transition of shots and the duration of each clip is quick to show the pace of the film and the emotional struggle of the character.

Kenning park - Holmgate. - The park was a peaceful place for us to film where the teen is being stalked by the unknown antagonist whom could be closely related to James Green. This adds to the stereotype for teens.

Tupton Bridge is another location. Located at the bottom of New Station road in Old Tupton. A casual spot for walkers and people who are keen of Trains. I felt this was an appropriate location for the audience to question why our main character is there.

Title change - During Production

The original title for the Thriller was "In Thus Life". After talks both me and Shaun (Film partner) decided on a new title which is "Cursed life". I agree that this fits our thriller piece well and gives our opening a little more mystery.

Planetational studio's - During Production

This is the company like Warner Bros for our thriller. The logo appears in the opening to our thriller.
This is the distributor of our thriller piece.
